Three Stages in the Process of Writing

Writing is the process of presenting or expressing the thoughts in black and white. Writing emanates from thoughts. Better the thoughts, better the writing. Thus, the whole emphasis of the process of writing is on the thoughts, which go through the following three main stages in order to be expressed in a written format: Selecting the thought for writing Processing the thought for writing Producing / expressing the thought in the written format in the form of book, blog or newspaper, etc. While there are unlimited possibilities for the completion of the third stage, as there are several publishing houses and editors to help a writer to harness the best publishing possibilities, it is the realm of the first two stages in which the author has to mainly depend on his intuition, hard work and time. How To Write About Ideas

According to the popular type of writing today, two prominent styles can be identified---first, writing about people and second, writing about ideas. Do you need to have knowledge of the subject matter you are editing?

Having the knowledge of the subject matter definitely gives some advantage to an editor. However, that is just a superficial aid, because either way, the first requirement of editing is that that you have to read the text or content assuming yourself as end reader or a layman, who does not know anything about the subject he/she is reading. What matters is that the content should be grammatically correct, error free, coherent, well illustrated and consistent. As a reader-editor, you should not get stuck in between the text, while reading. In addition to the aforementioned factors, there are some other factors that prove that you need not to have the knowledge of subject matter you are editing.
